Playing Conditions

Information for Tamil Eelam Challenge Cup Cricket :

  • Tamil Eelam Challenge Cup is an open tournament. 
  • In TECC Cricket a team can only have 3 non-tamil players in their 15 roster.
  • We will confirm priority 16 teams first, & we will take set of 4 teams on a first come basis.
    • Entry fee must paid
    • Registration package must be filled and submit
    • Team name list must be submitted with all the information filled in
  • In TECC Cricket, once the team’s entry confirmed by the host, the team can’t withdraw their entry. In case of withdrawing the entry may lead to lose their entry fee. If the withdrawal is too late may lead to lose their deposit too.
  • The entry fee is $300 & deposit $300 per team.
  • We will continue doing a welfare project towards our Heroes Families through this tournament.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Cricket Laws

  • CTYA has adapted the following Cricket Laws, which are mainly based on the International Cricket Laws, but with minor modifications to meet the requirements of softball cricket.
  • Since this is a complete set of Cricket Laws, this will be the only set of laws that will be followed in this tournament. None of the International Cricket Laws will override this set of laws.
  • The Association acknowledges origin of the International Cricket Laws and the Copyright notice of MCC.

Proper use of Playing Grounds

  • No one is allowed to bring any liquor within the limits of grounds. This includes the Playing grounds and the parking lot.
  • No one is allowed to bring any vehicle into the grounds.
  • If a player or any member of a team(includes team supporters) get caught for consuming liquor within the limits of the ground, will not be allow to participate in current and future tournament of CTYA’s Tamil Eelam Challenge Cup in their life time.

The Players and Team

  • All players must wear their team’s uniform of the same color, pattern, and design. If a team does not have their own uniform, they all must wear plain white or off-white (Cream) T-shirts and pants to play in.
  • The team fails to have minimum of 7 players in uniform before the toss will automatically forfeit (walk-over)the match.
  • Teams will be given 15-minute grace period from the scheduled time to start the game.
  • If the scheduled game does not begin within the 15 minutes grace period then that game will be awarded as a walkover for the competing team and forfeit the entry fee.

Priority Team

Must Full fill 7 Criteria to be Priority Team

A team can become a priority team if they fulfill 2 mandatory criteria and 5 additional criteria from the list below:

1. 3 Years of Clean Record – without any complaints (Mandatory)

2. Continuously participate in TECC for 5 years under the same team name (Mandatory)

3. Garbage cleaning (2 grounds)

4. Ground Preparation – day before games (2 grounds)

   – Cutting the grass/pitch

   – Marking the boundary lines

   – Other necessary tasks for the next day’s game

5. Ground preparation – Morning of the games

   – Assisting with flags

   – Helping to unload equipment (poles, flags, trophies, stage, etc.)

   – Other necessary tasks for the opening ceremony

6. National Flag or one of the 5 symbols representing Tamil Eelam must be on the jersey.

7. Participate in the closing ceremony of TECC with a minimum of 5 team members.

8. Umpire playoffs for 2 games (4 umpires required).

9. Qualify for the quarter-finals.

10. Represent your district.

11. Ground hosting responsibilities

    – Provide match sheets and balls

    – Ensure games proceed smoothly without issues

    – Ensure games start on time

12. Participate in the opening ceremony of TECC with a minimum of 7 team members.

 

The Umpires

Before and during a match the Umpires shall ensure that the conduct of the game and the implements used are strictly in accordance with the Laws.

  • Umpire’s decision is final. A team or member of team is not allowed to dispute the umpire decision.

If there is a dispute about the decision, the umpire has rights to disqualify the game and award a win to the opposite team or both teams will be disqualify from the tournament.

Players Stats

  • The stats will be followed according to the CricClubs app.
  • Any fault stats may lead to disqualify from the award.

Team Stats/Standing/Net Run Rate

If any team gives a walk-over win and they are tied with another team in the standings, the team that gave the walk-over will move down below the other team.

For example:
– Team A has 2 wins and 1 loss.
– Team B has 2 wins and 1 walk-over loss.

In this case, Team A will be ranked above Team B in the standings.

 

Disputes

  • Disputes that are related to the tournament activities, which may rise among clubs and/or individual member, should be escalated to the Committee. In such cases, the Committee will make the final decision, which must be accepted by all parties involved in the dispute.

Misconduct

  • Abuse and violence will not be tolerated at the CTYA activities. The following consequences will be enforced in case of an abuse or violence: Verbal abuse, Verbal threat, Attempt for physical harm, Physical harm, and Second physical harm.
  • A player and/or club misconduct and/or dishonesty will be strictly dealt by the Committee. The Committee will decide the punishment. In general, it will be one tournament punishment for the club or 3 games for the individual player.
  • If the suspension cannot be fully served in the current year, the remainder of the above suspensions will carry over to the following year.
  • Once the Committee hands over the suspension, it will take effect right away.

Illegal bowling action:

(An Illegal Bowling Action is where a player is throwing rather than bowling the ball. This is defined by the ICC as being where the player’s elbow extends by an amount of more than 15 degrees between their arm reaching the horizontal and the ball being released.)

      • Instant decision – Group Teams make a decision towards the bowler action by looking at the video which came throw the complaint. If more than 70% agrees what will become the instant decision.
      • Long term – the complaint video will be watch by a team of members who was recognized by the teams will finalize, is that fault action or not. If its fault, the bowler will be banned for following year. Also if his team was in a priority list, it will be taken out of it.

Playoff

  • The playoff structure including limitations and specifications will be provided at the Captain’s meeting.

Special Awards

To encourage the Tamil identity, the awards for the best players of the tournament will be given under the names of national symbols of Tamil Eelam.

  • Vaakai Award being presented to the Best Batsman of the tournament. 
  • Chenbakam Award being presented to the Best Bowler of the tournament.
  • Siruthai Award being presented to the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. 
  • Kaarthikai Poo Award being presented to the Playoff MVP. If there is a by round in the play off it won’t be counted to the player stats.
